Oke pledges to eradicate poverty if elected
Chief Olusola Oke |
He made the promise at the weekend while inaugurating his campaign team in Akure.
The Chairman, Media and Publicity of Olusola Oke-Ganny Dauda Campaign Organisation, Bisi Kolawole, described the AD as a movement that is committed to forming the next government.
Oke, who said the people have no reason to suffer lack, decried what he called “the abject poverty pervading the state despite its abundant natural resources.”
He said: “The poverty in the midst of plenty and the glaring ineptitude of those in power is unacceptable. We want to change it by bringing a new order and vision to make our people happy.
“We would revamp the economy and make the traditional rulers and the people the cornerstone of our programme. The youths would be empowered to benefit from the abundant resources that abound in the state.”
He urged his campaign team, headed by Mr. Bola Ilori, to brace up for the task ahead by eschewing infighting and bickering in the drive to “the New Ondo vision.”
Meanwhile, two of the party’s supporters alleged at the weekend that they were attacked in Owo local council while pasting the candidate’s posters.
Narrating his ordeal, one of the victims confirmed the attack at the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, where he was admitted.
He said: “The attackers disembarked from their buses and attacked me with machetes before taking me to the compound of one Aketi. When I fainted, they took me to a burial ground and dumped me there. It was a commercial motorcyclist who took me to the hospital.”
Another victim, who said he was stabbed in the head and right shoulder, explained that he was attacked because he defected from another political party.
