Biography of Ganny Dauda
HON. GANNY DAUDA
Born on September 25, 1957 to the family of Pa Dauda Ojo Arigbede and Madam Dauda Asinatu in Irun Akoko, Ganny Dauda, like every other child, will always remember the lessons of his youth. As a villager, he had an encounter with poverty, earned the painful lesson of hardwork and profited from it, the act of dignity of labour. He started his early school life at Local Authority Primary School Surulere, Irun Akoko and also attended Ajuwa Grammar School, Okeagbe. Ganny’s studentship under Chief Guy Garguilo at Ajuwa Grammar School delivered to him the first memorable experience in hard work and self-reliance; an experience that later guide his path to stardom. His unbridled quest for knowledge earned him both Diploma and Advanced Diploma Certificates in Public Administration of Ondo State Polytechnic, Owo and a Bachelor of Science in Government and Public Administration of Imo State University, Owerri.
Ganny is not insulated from the wide claws of poverty that shut the doors of education against many children of his age; his desire to explore opportunities would not allow him to concede to the limitation of his environment. Therefore, immediately he left Ajuwa Grammar School in 1977, he trained as a Survey Technician under Chief R. S. Oguntade the noble surveyor in Okesha, Ado Ekiti. He undergone the mandatory training required of a Surveyor then, he served as Survey Assistant with JAFACO Nig. Ltd. Ibadan between 1979 and 1980. To broaden his entrepreneurial potentials and horizon, he worked with NeubarTouch Chemicals Industry Oshogbo as a Sales Representative covering the old Ondo, Oyo and Ogun States between 1980 and 1981.
He returned home in 1982 to establish Ganny International Limited; a private company that offers Survey Technical services in Eshe Quarters, Ikare Akoko. As a young versatile entrepreneur, in 1983, he made foray into produce business trading in Cocoa, Palm Karnel, Cashew and other commercial farm products.
For his hard work, honesty and integrity he was appointed an Independent License Buying Agent (ILBA) by the defunct Nigerian Cocoa Board and the Palm Produce Board in 1985; an opportunity Ganny used to expose and empower all the youths around him from the nooks and cranny of Akoko land.
As a politician, Ganny was elected member of the House of Representatives, Abuja to represent Akoko North and Akoko South Federal Constituency from 2011 to 2015. He was elected Chairman, Akoko North West Council Okeagbe in 1999 and served as a Councilor representing Oke Irun / Surulere ward in the old Akoko North Local Government, Ikare between 1990 and 1991. His contributions to the evolution of Labour Party in Ondo State earned him the position of National Vice Chairman, South West since December 2009 – 2013. In 2014, when he had to chose between his principles and politics, Ganny elected his principles and joined All Progressive Congress (APC)
Achievements
His achievements while in office are a benchmark for evaluation of performance. Under his chairmanship, he bestrode on the development of physical and infrastructural environment of the Secretariat thereafter developed a formidable workforce that delivered quality programmes of his administration. Traditional rulers in Akoko North West council were accorded due space and his administration prioritized their welfare and statutory benefits. Scholarships and health programmes benefited from the policy direction of his administration.
Passionate about service to humanity, Ganny’s philosophy about politics is service to the people and has vowed to always answer the call to serve anytime the people beckon and opportunity presents itself.
Ganny is a socialite who loves swimming. He is married and blessed with children.
