Chief Olusola Oke |
The candidate, who spoke through his media aide, Rotimi Ogunleye, sad yesterday that the situation has created fear among his supporters.
He urged the security agencies to urgently address the issue so that the atmosphere for peaceful polls is not threatened.
According to him, the billboards, which cost the Oke Campaign Organisation so much to erect, are being destroyed on a daily basis.
He added that the AD supporters involved in pasting his posters are also sometimes “physically attacked by political hoodlums.”
Oke said: “The call on the security agencies became necessary because there is a limit to which his supporters can be pushed to the wall.”
He described the destruction as deplorable because his campaign organisation had “paid over one million naira,” to the Ondo State Signage Agency as required by law.

He explained: “Last week, our billboards on Ibule junction on the Akure-Ilesa road were defaced by some unknown characters. The same was done to the ones at Road Block, at the entrance to Akure, the state capital.
“However, the one on Oke Aro area of Akure was pulled down by people suspected to be officials of the signage agency, on the ground that it was too close to that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s candidate.”
The candidate disclosed that one Adewale Akinleye, a youth volunteer, was beaten by thugs belonging to a rival party at Oluwatuyi quarters for campaigning for the AD.
He said his party had reported the matter to the police with the necessary evidence to assist in their investigation.
The candidate added that he has been informed of similar destruction across the state, citing Owo and Ipele as some of the places.
He appealed to his supporters not to be provoked, saying, “they want to create confusion, but we must behave like mature people and be prepared to push them out with our votes.”
